Installing Windows Thin PC 7 on the DS918+

The Synology DS918+ has limited performance, but a streamlined version of Windows 7 can be installed via Virtual Machine Manager; you need to create a Chinese image yourself and upload it to DSM before deploying the virtual machine.

Preload: What Is It Good For?

Preload is a newly introduced web standard whose main purpose is to optimize Web performance and give Web developers more powerful control over network loading. It provides Web developers with the ability to customize the resource loading logic of a page, making it possible to avoid performance problems similar to those encountered by script resource loaders.

    Synology NAS: Backup Features

The primary role of a NAS is backup. For me, the data I need to back up includes personal photos, some work files, and some of my own private files, as well as backups of important files from my phone and computer. Time Machine Backup For the macOS system, the simplest way to back up is to use Time Machine. Time Machine is a system-level backup that performs incremental backups of your entire macOS system drive. Time Machine is generally paired with an external hard drive for system backups, but DSM can also enable Time Machine

My Experience Unbricking a Netgear R6300V2 Router

This March, tempted by Zhang Dama, I finally caved and bought the legendary “electric stove”—the Netgear R6300V2 router—beginning my router-tinkering journey. At first, I just wanted to buy a router that could run OpenWRT firmware, then run Shadowsocks on it to achieve automatic network proxying. In fact, there are too many routers that meet this need; a router costing around 100 yuan could do the job. But the longer I browsed on Zhang Dama, the more uneasy I felt, thinking that maybe I should go all-in at once: just buy a dual-band router with stronger performance, one that could also mount a portable hard drive and serve as a mini NAS. Just imagining it felt wonderful. So, the R6300V2 became the obvious choice.

    Customize Your Sublime Text

It's quite surprising to think that I've already been on the frontend path for more than three years. After more than three years of accumulation, this young guy who 'self-taught himself into firewood' has, more or less, gained some experience. Experience has taught me that a handy and efficient editor can greatly improve your development efficiency. As I recall, I've been using Sublime Text 3 as my editor from the very beginning and never changed it. Of course, that doesn't mean I haven't tried other editors or IDEs; in fact, I've tried Brackets, Atom, VS Code, and JetBrains' Webstorm. All of these editors/IDEs are quite excellent, but they didn't feel quite right for me. I still love
